Bridgens Claims Fourth All-Big Ten Honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday that Penn State senior Lauren Bridgens has been named a Second Team All-Big Ten honoree.

After missing the 2021 season with an Achilles injury, Bridgens elected to return for a fifth season and she quickly returned to form. She has recorded five 9.9+ scores thus far this season, including two season-best 9.925 scores on bars. She has claimed nine event titles this season, extending her career total to 43.

Bridgens has now claimed four All-Big Ten honors in her career. She is one of only nine Nittany Lions in history to claim three First Team All-Big Ten honors and still holds the honor as the only Penn Stater to record a perfect 10.0 score on bars.

The conference also announced that freshman Olivia Yarussi has been named Penn State's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The award is presented to an individual who has distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

The Nittany Lions are back on the road this weekend for the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The afternoon session (featuring Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State and Rutgers) will start at noon (ET), while the evening session (which includes Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Ohio State), will begin at 5:30 p.m. (ET). Both sessions will be televised live on the Big Ten Network and will also be streamed live on the FOX Sports app, with additional information available on the Championships web site at bigten.org/WGYM.
