Ryan Griffiths Ranked Number One After Day One of Men’s Competitions

University Park, Pa. - The first day of NCAA championships for men was successful for the Nittany Lions as all competing fencers fared well in competitions. The final day of NCAA championships will resume tomorrow at the Castellan Family Fencing Center in Notre Dame, Ind.

In men's epee, Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) is ranked number one with a 0.800 percentage.

Arwen Borowiak (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany) finished round three today in seventh place with a 0.600 percentage, and Sebastiano Bicego (Vicenza, Italy) ended in tenth with a 0.533 percentage.

In men's saber, Kamar Skeete (Duluth, Ga.) is ranked 8th with a 0.600 percentage. Clement Perrier (Allauch, France) followed shortly behind in 16th place with a 0.400 percentage.

As a team Penn State sits in sixth place as the competitions continue. Following competitions tomorrow, men's champions will be announced.

​​Penn State has won 13 combined NCAA Championships in its storied history and three women's titles before the championship became a combined event. The Nittany Lions finished second last year as Penn State hosted the NCAA Championships in the Bryce Jordan Center. Griffiths claimed the NCAA individual title in the epee to lead Penn State. Penn State had 10 All-Americans a year ago.
