O’Neill named to Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen Midseason All-American List

Opens in a new window Full Release

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sophomore Kristin O'Neill was named as an honorable mention on the Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen Midseason All-American list released Thursday.

Midway through her sophomore campaign, O'Neill leads the Lions with 31 points on 25 goals and six assists. The midfielder from Odenton, Md. has eight multi-goal games this year out of PSU's nine contests.

She also leads the team with 11 caused turnovers; she caused a career high four turnovers in PSU's most recent game at Ohio State.

The Midseason All-American nod adds to a list of honors O'Neill has collected this season.

On March 15, O'Neill was tabbed Big Ten Midfielder of the Week after combining for ten points in wins over No. 21 James Madison and Saint Joseph's.

It was O'Neill's first conference Midfielder of the Week honor after she claimed Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times last season, which culminated in her earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2021.

Prior to the 2022 season opener, O'Neill was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, which includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award.

O'Neill was also recognized as a Big Ten Player to Watch, an apt designation as the midfielder presently ranks sixth in the conference by averaging 2.78 goals per game, eighth in points per game (3.44) and ninth in caused turnovers per game (1.22).

The Nittany Lions (5-4, 0-1) continue Big Ten play on Friday, April 1 as they host No. 3 Northwestern (8-2, 2-0) at Panzer Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.
