Bailey Parshall Tosses Complete Game Shutout as Penn State Softball Beats Indiana 6-0

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State softball team (24-15, 6-4 Big Ten) started the weekend strong against Big Ten foe Indiana (22-11, 5-5 Big Ten) with a 6-0 shutout win on Friday night at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field.

Bailey Parshall secured the shutout win with only two hits allowed across all seven innings. Parshall leads the Nittany Lions with a 14-6 record and is atop the Big Ten with eight shutouts.

The Nittany Lions put on a show tonight on both sides of the ball. Cassie Lindmark went 3-4 with two doubles in the win. Maggie Finnegan hit her second home run of the season while Lexie Black and Lauren Marcotte had two hits each.

How it Happened
Senior pitcher Bailey Parshall started off hot with back-to-back strikeouts to hold off the Hoosiers in the top of the first.

The Penn State offense continued the hot start when Cassie Lindmark doubled to right center in the bottom of the first. Penn State capitalized on an infield error by Indiana followed by a Lexie Black RBI single to go up 2-0 in the bottom of the first.

Penn State kept the scoring going in the fifth inning. Liana Jones registered an RBI double to make it a 3-0 ball game. Maggie Finnegan followed suit with a home run to dead center, busting the game wide open and making it 5-0 Nittany Lions.

Kaitlyn Morrison then got in on the party, singling to right center to bring Shelli Rivard home to make it a 6-0 game. The Hoosiers didn't have an answer for Parshall, who finished the game allowing two hits while striking out seven. The Nittany Lions improve to 6-4 in Big Ten play and have won their last two games.
