COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State women's golf team completed the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday afternoon with its best round of the weekend at the Ohio State Golf Club's Scarlet Course carding a final round score of 19-over, 307, to finish seventh in the 10-team field.
The host Buckeyes registered the low round of the week on Saturday finishing the day 4-over and earning championship honors with a 54-hole total of 33-over par, 15 strokes better than Kent State. Illinois (49-over), Michigan State (52-over) and Nebraska (59-over) rounded out the top-five.
The Nittany Lions were paced by junior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) who used a 1-under, 35, on her second nine of the day, which was actually the front nine, and finished her final round at 3-over, 75. Delavallade climbed three spots and was Penn State's highest ranked individual finishing the championship tied for 12th at 13-over.
Freshman Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) had a strong finish to the tournament rattling off three birdies in a four-hole span to close her opening nine of the day after registering a triple-bogey on her fifth hole. Nienhaus carded a 4-over, 76, and finished the tournament tied for 23rd.
Senior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) used her best round of the weekend to climb seven spots on the leaderboard following her 5-over, 77.
Senior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio), junior Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas), and freshman Katie Scheck (Greensboro, Ga.) rounded out the team scoring on Saturday with matching rounds of 7-over, 79. Willis finished the week tied for 20th at 16-over par.
Penn State will begin the B1G Championships next Friday at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
