UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the second time this season, Penn State women's lacrosse midfielder Brooke Hoss has been tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Hoss scored a hat trick in the first quarter alone against the Scarlet Knights on Saturday. Her offensive efforts helped keep PSU in contention with nationally ranked RU.
After the Nittany Lions fell behind two goals early, Hoss scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at three apiece. With 50 seconds remaining of the first period, Hoss netted her third goal of the game on a free-position opportunity.
She rounded out her performance with four draw control wins at RU.
The game was Hoss' ninth multi-goal game of the season. The West Sayville, New York native has tallied 23 goals in 2022 and holds a .442 shot percentage.
Hoss earned her first league Freshman of the Week accolade earlier this season after combining for six goals in wins at Duquesne and Cornell.
Against Duquesne, Hoss netted four goals on four shots to lead the Nittany Lions in scoring. She also added three draw controls.
Hoss took charge, scoring the first goal of the game just over a minute in, which also marked her first collegiate goal in just her second game at PSU.
The midfielder kept up the scoring at Cornell, netting two goals while tallying one ground ball and winning one draw control in PSU's 20-11 win over the Big Red.
Hoss and the Nittany Lions conclude the regular season on Thursday, April 28 by hosting Johns Hopkins at Panzer Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
