UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Kristin O'Neill named an All-American Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse on Monday.
The All-American honorable mention nod adds to O'Neill's post-season honors, which include First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Region recognition.
In March, O'Neill was already on Inside Lacrosse's radar as she was named as an honorable mention on the Midseason All-American list. She began the season on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and the Big Ten Player to Watch List.
O'Neill is one of 18 underclassmen receiving IL All-American recognition of the 113 total student-athletes honored.
The Odenton, Maryland native started all 15 games this season and led the Nittany Lions in goals (39), points (51) and caused turnovers (22). She also recorded 12 assists, 21 ground balls and 40 draw controls.
After helping the Nittany Lions to a 14-10 win over No. 21 James Madison on March 9 and a 17-8 win over Saint Joseph's on March 12, O'Neill claimed her first conference Midfielder of the Week honor after claiming Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times last season as well as Freshman of the Year.
The Nittany Lions claimed those two wins during their home opening week with O'Neill leading the pack as she combined for ten points on seven goals and three assists. She also tallied five draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
On Feb. 26 at Cornell, the sophomore midfielder tied her career-high goal mark with five goals and added one assist to tie her single-game career-high point total at six. Then on April 23 at Rutgers, she tied her single-game point total again, notching six points on three goals and a career-high three assists.
O'Neill finished the season with hat tricks in each of her final four games and registered 13 multi-goal performances in the spring.
