UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's track and field student-athlete Victoria Tachinski has been named a second team Academic All-American as announced by CoSIDA Tuesday.
The Academic All-America award recognizes the very best student-athletes in the nation, honoring both athletic accomplishments and academic accomplishments.
Tachinski owns a stellar 3.91 cumulative grade point average in her biotechnology major. She becomes the first Penn State track and field student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors since Robby Creese earned third team accolades in 2015, and the first female Penn State track and field student-athlete since Bridget Franek was named second team Academic All-America in 2010.
Tachinski capped off the 2021-22 season by earning honorable mention All-America honors in the 800m race earlier this month at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship in Eugene, Ore. She earned second-team All-America status in the indoor 800m race at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native scored points in the 800m race and 4x400m relay at the 2022 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, finished in the top five of three events at the 2022 Big Ten Indoor Championships, and was the anchor of the 4x800m relay team that earned the Penn Relays championship this spring.
