Penn State Rugby Celebrates 60 Years

University Park, PA – Penn State Men's Rugby will celebrate its 60th Anniversary this season with an exciting and full Fall 2022 schedule.

With the addition of 6 schools to the Rugby East Conference this season, the slate of Fall matches now have conference standings at stake week in and week out. Co-Captain Campbell Halloran stated "We are excited for another strong test in the Rugby East this season. With some strong new teams and old rivals, we are excited to represent Penn State and our 60 year history." In arguably the most competitive conference in the D1 Collegiate landscape, this is surely shaping up to be a very exciting Fall season.

The team will kick-off pre-season 14 August, welcoming a strong group of 29 returners and 5 newcomers. With a little over 4 weeks to prepare before the team head to Charlotte, NC the first few weeks will be fast and furious. Co-Captain Dalton Musselman iterated, "I am excited to lead a strong Penn State team again this season. Everyone is looking forward to being back and ready to welcome the challenges ahead." The team will build off the strong Spring season in 2022 and continue to improve and innovate in this challenging conference.

Men's Rugby open the season on the road 10 September, with a repeat of the NCR Championship Semi-final from Fall 2021 against Queens University of Charlotte. That match was hotly contested with Penn State narrowly defeating the Royals 32-31.

Penn State travels to Navy 8 October followed by hosting the D1A National Champion Army the weekend of 15 October, during the programs 60th Anniversary Celebration. The back-to-back matches against the service academies will certainly be an exciting test for the team.
