UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 6 Penn State women's soccer program is set to host Michigan State on Thursday, Sept. 29 with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Jeffrey Field.

Parking Information
Parking for all Penn State Athletics' non-football events will require a valid permit or payment of the applicable parking fee for campus lots. Fans with valid Penn State University Park parking permits will be permitted to park at non-football athletics events for free, following Transportation Services parking policies and access.

For women's soccer matches, fans are asked to park in the Jordan East, Stadium West or Porter North lots. Fans without a permit are encouraged to prepay for event parking at a discounted rate of $5.50 through ParkMobile - https://psu.parkmobile.io/. Prepayment is available through 11:59 p.m. the day prior to each event. Event day parking will be $10 per vehicle and is cash only/can be purchased on the ParkMobile app. The East Deck is also available for most events for $1 per hour.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Penn State blanked Illinois in a 5-0 victory on Sunday at Jeffrey Field.
  • The PSU defense restricted Illinois to just four shots on goal with three saves by Asman and one save by senior+ Morgan Messner.
  • Asman was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week for her two clean sheet performances against No. 4 Rutgers and Illinois. She made six saves in the shutout of No. 4 Rutgers.
  • Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Mieke Schiemann hauled in her second weekly honor this season. The Berlin, Germany native anchored the PSU defense as the youngest defender in back-to-back shutouts of No. 4 Rutgers and Illinois. 
  • Hocking led the way scoring a brace with her first goal occurring just 30 seconds into the match. For her efforts, plus her insurance goal in the 2-0 upset of No. 4 Rutgers, she was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Senior+ Jillian Jennings scored the second goal of her career and first goal for the Blue and White since transferring from Boston College in 2021.
  • Freshman Olivia Smith and junior Kaitlyn MacBean both netted their first career goals.
  • The five Nittany Lion goals were the most conceded by the Fighting Illini this season behind their 0-4 loss at Notre Dame on Aug. 28.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE 

  • The Spartans are coming off a 3-1 road victory against Purdue on Sunday. 
  • Graduate student Camryn Evans and senior Lauren DeBeau are tied at six goals leading the Spartans this year. 
  • DeBeau will not be available for the match after the Big Ten Conference imposed a one-match suspension following a league policy violation in MSU's match vs. Purdue on Sept. 25.
  • 17 different Spartans have garnered an assist.
  • Redshirt senior goalkeeper Lauren Kozal has recorded 29 saves with a .853 save percentage.

PENN STATE AGAINST MICHIGAN STATE

  • Penn State leads the all-time series against Michigan State 24-5-0.
  • PSU is on a five-match streak against the Spartans. 
  • The Nittany Lions have out-scored MSU 16 to four in the last five matches.
  • The last time PSU played Michigan State, the Nittany Lions won 2-1 on the road on Oct. 21, 2021. Schlegel scored the equalizer in the 79th minute and Ellie Wheeler scored what would be the game-winner in the 84thminute.
  • Michigan State last defeated PSU 3-1 in 2016.

  • For the first time in the Big Ten Preseason Poll history, there was a tie for first place with Penn State and Rutgers leading the list.

  • Under the direction of head coach Erica Dambach, the Nittany Lions have won 11 Big Ten regular season championships and four Big Ten Tournament championships as she enters her 16th season as Penn State's head coach.

  • Seniors Penelope Hocking, Payton Linnehan and Schlegel were named Big Ten Players to Watch.

  • The Nittany Lions have faced four ranked opponents having defeated No. 21 West Virginia, 2-0 and No. 4 Rutgers 2-0, lost to No. 12 Stanford, 2-0 and tied No. 19 Georgetown 2-2.
  • Mieke Schiemann was named Big Ten Defender of the Week on Aug 30 after notching her first career goal and first career assist against WVU.
  • Amelia White was Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Aug. 23 after tallying an assist in each of her first two collegiate matches against Duquesne and Georgetown.
