UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Despite a second half offensive rally, Penn State lost to Rutgers 2-1 on Tuesday night. The Nittany Lions fall to 5-5-4 overall, 2-2-3 Big Ten.

FIRST HALF
The Nittany Lions applied consistent pressure throughout the first half with five shots.

Van Danielson gave Penn State one of its best offensive opportunities of the half when he stole the ball from a Rutgers player and carried it up the field to nail a shot that was saved by the Scarlet Knights keeper.

Rutgers struck first in the 25th minute. A goal for Jason Bouregy from Matthew Acosta and Jackson Temple put the Scarlet Knights ahead 1-0.

Rutgers managed to pull ahead with another goal with five minutes remaining in the first period of play. A goal from Ian Abbey made the score 2-0 going into halftime.

SECOND HALF

Despite outshooting the Scarlet Knights 5-4 in the second half, the Nittany Lions came out unlucky on several attempts at a second goal.

Penn State played a man down for the remaining 13 minutes of the game after a red card was issued to defender Femi Awodesu.

The final score of the tight battle was 2-1, with Rutgers coming away victorious.
