Men's Rugby struggle on the Road against St. Bonaventure

University Park, PA – This past Saturday Men's rugby traveled to St. Bonaventure, NY to take on 2021 NCR National Champion, St. Bonaventure. The champions proved too much for the Lions as Penn State fell 30-57.

The match was a high scoring affair with both teams finding plenty of cracks in the defense. Multiple long range tries from St. Bonaventure put the Lions on the heels all day.

Penn State opened the match strong, scoring first in the 4th minute when Nicholas Bruno side stepped his way to the goal line. Dalton Musselman converted. Following that try St. Bonaventure jumped out to a sizeable lead, 7-21. Penn State fought back and Dalton Musselman used his boot well to close the gap 16-21 off 3 penalties. Bonnies closed out the half with a try and a 16-28 lead.

The second half favored the hosts and they put in 5 try's to Penn State's two, both scored by Ian Roudybush off of some strong forward play.

All in all, a really tough day on both sides of the ball for Penn State.

The team are on the road again this coming weekend as they travel to conference new-comer, Southern Virginia University. The match will be played Saturday, 29 October at 4:00pm.
