Penn State Women’s Swimming & Diving Begins the Season with Victories Against Boston College and Navy

Annapolis, Md. – Penn State swimming & diving beats Navy, 202.50-97.50, and Boston, 217-82, decisively on the road at Lejeune Hall during their season-opening meet. 
 
Senior captain Emma Harvey and freshman Julia Meisner highlighted the team, earning two induvial victories while the back, breast, fly and sprint free squads demonstrated their strength by capturing their respective events. 
 
Top Swims 
Harvey won the 100 Back (54.85) as sophomore Molly Carson (56.24) placed second. In the 200, junior Abby Henderson touched first, leading Harvey (2:01.47) and Carson (2:04.21) to a Penn State top-three sweep. 
 
The Nittany Lions' breaststroke squad took the day's events with victories in the 100 (graduate student Olivia Jack – 1:03.41) and 200 (junior Kylie Rydland – 2:21.27). 
 
Harvey gained her second individual victory in the 100 Fly 55.18), while Meisner earned her first in the 200 (2:01.42) and led Penn State to a top-three sweep with juniors Morgan Rinn (2:05.11) and Casey Loughlin in second and third (2:05.28). 
 
The Nittany Lions were triumphant in the 50, 100 and 200 Free. Junior Mary Brinker outtouched her Boston College opponent by 0.12 seconds to win the 50 (23.44) while junior Cat Stanford (50.98) led the team to a sweep the top four places in the 100. And freshman Catherine Meisner (1:49.98) led senior Abbie Amdor to second in the 200 (1:52.08).
 
Meisner (2:04.14) and Henderson (2:04.99) concluded the day's individual events by placing first and second in the 200 IM.
 
Relays
Penn State's Amdor, Stanford, Brinker and Jack won the 400 Free Relay by nearly five seconds (3:25.37), while the team of Carson, Jack, sophomore Maura Fluehr and Stanford tied with Navy in the 200 Medley, touching for first place in 1:43.38.

Top Dives 
Senior captain Wei Wei led the Nittany Lions on the boards, placing first in the 1-Meter (255.80) and fifth in the 3-Meter Dives (231.60).
