UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday when the Nittany Lions compete in the Georgetown Intercollegiate at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J.
The Liberty National Golf Club plays as a par-72, 7,387-yard course and has a parkland links style layout designed by Tom Kite and Bob Cupp that features magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. Monday features 36 continuous holes and begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, while the third and final round is set for Tuesday.
Penn State will be represented by the same five Nittany Lions that traveled to Wake Forest's Old Town Club Collegiate two weeks ago: Patrick Sheehan, Jake Griffin, Morgan Lofland, James Allen and Billy Pabst Jr. The Nittany Lions finished that event with the third-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history at 7-under, 833. Griffin led the way with the best finish of his collegiate career, placing third at 6-under, 204. Sheehan also finished in the top 15, placing tied for 12th at 2-under, 208.
