Allen Collects Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week Honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State freshman running back Kaytron Allen was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday. Allen helped No. 11/10 Penn State to a 55-10 win at Rutgers on Saturday.
 
Allen earned his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award of the season. He also picked it up after his performance against Central Michigan.

  • At Rutgers, Allen rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. He averaged 10.6 yards per carry. Allen had a 32-yard run in the third quarter.
  • Allen earned his second career 100-yard rushing game.
  • Allen scored on an 8-yard run in the third quarter. It was his ninth career rushing touchdown.
  • With Allen's 117 rushing yards on the day, Nicholas Singleton (863 rushing yards) and Allen (748 rushing yards) became the first freshman duo in Big Ten history to both rush for 700+ rushing yards in a season.

  • Allen ranks fifth among FBS freshmen in rushing touchdowns (9), fourth averaging 5.54 yards per carry, eighth in total rushing yards (748) and eighth in rushing yards per game (68.0).

  • Against Central Michigan, Allen rushed for 111 yards, on 13 carries, marking the first 100-yard rushing game of his career. Allen scored on a 14-yard run in the second quarter and added a career-long 37-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • With Allen's 111-yard rushing performance vs. CMU, Penn State has had two true freshmen running backs post 100-yard games in a single season for the first time since 2019.
  • Allen collected 86 yards on a career-best 21 carries against Northwestern.
  • Allen scored on a 1-yard run at Michigan.
  • Allen totaled 158 scrimmage yards at Indiana. He rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, while adding catches of 27 and 45 yards.
  • Allen scored on runs of 11, 6 and 6 yards against the Hoosiers.
  • Allen's three rushing touchdowns against Indiana are the most by a Nittany Lion since Journey Brown's three scores against Rutgers in 2019.
  • Allen is the first Penn State freshman with three rushing touchdowns in a game since Austin Scott against Kent State in 2003.
