LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior Miko Eala earned a victory for the Nittany Lions over Old Dominion's Codie Van Schalkwyk to open competition at the Liberty Hidden Dual in Lynchburg, Va. on Friday morning.
SINGLES
Eight Nittany Lions saw singles action on the court to open the Liberty Hidden Dual. Following Eala's 7-5, 6-2 win over Van Schalkwyk, Charl Morgan fell to Francois La Tallec 6-3, 6-3. Sam Bossem was defeated by Old Dominion's Yanis Moundir 7-6(5), 6-2 and Malik Bhatnagar took Cosme Rolland De Reval to three sets but lost 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-0.
Monarch Jakob Cadonau bested Penn State's Ismail Saadi 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1, before Pranav Nemani fell to Oliver Tobsich 7-6(0), 6-4. Taking on players from Longwood University, Harrison Janes lost 6-2, 3-6, [11-9] to Yoav Weinberg and Andrei Paduraru was defeated by Timeo Puech 6-2, 6-1.
DOUBLES
In doubles, partners Nemani and Paduraru triumphed over Weinberg and Puech 7-6(5). Duo Eala and Morgan fell to Moundir and Cadonau of Old Dominion, while Bossem and Bhatnagar were defeated by La Tallec and Rolland De Ravel 6-4. Finishing out doubles action, Janes and Saadi lost 6-2 to Nicola Vidal and Tobisch.
