SERIES HISTORY
- Penn State leads the series 9-7 as they last defeated the Wildcats in the 2020 season by a score of 19-10 on February 8, 2020. This will the 17th game of the series between both teams.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
- Villanova finished last season with a 9-6 overall record and a 3-2 record in Big East League play.
- The Wildcats do return grad student Matt Campbell who recently earned second team USILA All-American entering the 2023 campaign. Campbell led the team with 67 points on 45 goals and 22 assists.
- In net, stands Will Vitton who started in 15 games last season and tallied a GAA of 7.59 and record of 9-6.
HAVE A DAY MATT!
- Sophomore Matt Traynor started the 2023 season in style against Lafayette.
- He notched five goals and one assist for six points which was not only a game-high for him but a career high into total goals and points.
BOHN WINS THE FACEOFF

Bohn had a stellar season opener winning 20 of 29 faceoffs against Lafayette.
It's the most faceoff wins in a single game Bohn has tallied in his career.
He also tallied 15 ground balls in the game which is all a single-game high for the junior.

- Graduate student Brett Funk will wear the No. 11 jersey for the second time in his career.
- The No. 11 is presented to a young man who has persevered in the face of adversity. The No. 11 jersey, worn by Michael Jacober, 2002-05, has become symbolic of the strength and compassion of the 2005 Penn State lacrosse team who rallied around Michael after his family was tragically killed in a plane crash during his senior season.

- Graduate student Jack Traynor will wear the No. 16 jersey for a first season.
- Since 2016, to a senior who best represents the "Heart of a Competitor" in honor of our "Teammate for Life" Connor Darcey. Connor passed away tragically on June 12, 2015 in a car accident, prior to his redshirt junior season.
- The No. 16 is passed down by the student-athlete who had the honor of wearing the No. 16 during the previous season.
TAMBRONI NEARING 100
- Penn State men's lacrosse head coach Jeff Tambroni currently sits at 97 wins as a head coach at Penn State.
- He is four wins shy from 100 at Penn State which would make him just the second Penn State men's lacrosse head coach to surpass that mark.
- Previous head coach Glenn Thiel is the only other Nittany Lion lacrosse coach to surpass 100 wins at Penn State.
