UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams traveled to Duke University to take on teams from Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Brandeis, Notre Dame, and MIT. The men fenced on Saturday, Feb. 11, with the women on Sunday, Feb. 12.
The women were unable to overcome touch matchups against Northwestern (16-11), Duke (18-9), and Notre Dame (15-12), but rolled past MIT (16-11) and Brandeis (18-9).
Sophomore Jaclyn Khrol had the top performance of the day for the women, finishing 13-2 in epee.
"I am really proud of the whole team and all the coaching staff for their tremendous work. We are moving in the right direction step by step," said Interim Head Coach Adam Kaszubowski.
The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will next travel to Denver, Colo. For the Junior Olympics Feb. 17 through Feb. 20.
