Women's Golf Opens Play at UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  – The Penn State women's golf team opened play at the UNF Collegiate playing 36 holes throughout the day on Monday. The Nittany Lions fired rounds of 298 and 295 and are currently 17-over entering Tuesday's final round.

Sam Houston State leads the 17-team field by 13 strokes as the only team under par at 12-under. Furman (1-over), Xavier (4-over), North Florida (6-over) and Daytona State (8-over) round out the top-5.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Michelle Cox (Allentown, Pa.) carded rounds of 1-under and 3-over and currently sits 2-over and tied for 23rd in the 90-player field. Cox's day was highlighted by an eagle in the opening round on the par-4, 316-yard, fifth-hole, her seventh of the day, after starting on the 17th.

Senior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) went 75, 72 on the day and is currently 3-over and tied for 27th while sophomore Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) turned in back-to-back rounds of 2-over, 74, and is tied for 32nd at 4-over.

Senior's Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas), Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) round out the day one scores at 6-over, 7-over and 8-over, respectively.

The Nittany Lions will be paired with Eastern Kentucky and Charlotte for Tuesday's final round and will begin on holes 13-15 with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
