O'Boyle brings 1,027 career points, 309 career rebounds and 196 career 3-pointers to Happy Valley, having played in 109 games while making 88 starts throughout his strong four-year career at Lafayette.

O'Boyle was Lafayette's leading scorer as a senior co-captain in 2022-23, averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 40.7 percent from 3-point range and 86.4 percent from the free throw line. He tallied 19 double-figure scoring efforts during the 2022-23 campaign, including a 19-point performance against the Nittany Lions in which he shot 4-for-5 from deep and added three steals when the Leopards visited the Bryce Jordan Center on Nov. 25. O'Boyle was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team after leading the Leopards to their first Patriot League championship game appearance since 2015.

A three-year starter for the Leopards, O'Boyle averaged 9.9 ppg as a junior and 8.5 ppg as a sophomore. He made an immediate impact upon arrival at Lafayette, earning Patriot League All-Rookie Team honors during his freshman campaign in which he contributed 7.1 points per game, including 9.7 points per league contest.

A Pennsylvania product, O'Boyle led his Scranton Prep team to three District 2 AAAA championships. The All-State selection was a two-time team captain who led the Lackawanna League in scoring in his junior season. O'Boyle earned All-League honors in both basketball and football, playing quarterback for the two-time District 2 AAA champions.

Rhoades on O'Boyle: "We are thrilled to have Leo join our Penn State Basketball family.  His combination of maturity, skill and toughness are going to impact our program.  He is another Pennsylvania product that we are excited to have on board. We can't wait to get to work with him."
