Four Women’s Lacrosse Athletes Earn National Recognition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- USA Lacrosse announced its 2023 All-Americans on Tuesday, May 9 with Kristin O'Neill, Ellie Hollin and Gretchen Gilmore on the list. The International Women's Lacrosse Collegiate Association (IWLCA) announced its All-Region selections on Thursday, May 11. O'Neill, Sammy Dupcak and Ellie Hollin were recognized. 
 
Junior co-captain O'Neill is selected for both national awards. She garnered a third team All-American honor as well as first team All-Region for the West/Midwest Region. The midfielder leads the team in goals and is on track for a 50+ goal season with her 48 so far. She also leads the team in points with 56 while also adding eight assists. O'Neill is on a 21-game scoring streak throughout this season and last. This is O'Neill's second All-Region selection.
 
Hollin earned a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention nod as well as second team All-Region. The defender was named the IWLCA and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week once throughout her 2023 campaign. The sophomore's best outing of the season came in a dominant second half shutout win over Ohio State, where she scooped five ground balls and forced five turnovers. Hollin has posted 29 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls.
 
Dupcak earned second team All-Region for her defensive performance this season. She leads the defense in ground balls and caused turnovers. Her 50 ground balls ranks her 13th nationally. The junior defender earned her 100th career ground ball this season and posted a career high six in a win over Arizona State. Dupcak has also scored one goal in the win against Drexel. This is her second consecutive All-Region honor.
 
Gilmore earned USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention honors for her offensive performance prior to her season-ending injury. The junior attacker was named the IWLCA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after a 10-goal week earlier in the season. She posted four goals against Towson as well as scoring six in a win against a ranked Princeton. Gilmore totaled 27 goals this season prior to her injury which ranks her second on the team.
