Diving Incoming Freshman Abigail Ekstrom Finishes Top 10 At USA Junior Nationals

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Penn State diving incoming freshman Abigail Ekstrom finished eighth at the 2023 USA Diving TYR Junior National Championships in California on Sunday. Ekstrom qualified for the 16-18 Girls 1-meter final and posted a score of 395.2.
 
The Fullerton, California native, competing with Claremont Pomona Dive Club, advanced to the final after recording a score of 374 in the semifinals, placing 11th, with a 36.80 average. In the final, Ekstrom averaged a 43.5 to finish eighth.
 
Ekstrom continued a strong summer, which included a first-place finish in the 1-meter at the USA Diving Zone F Championships with a score of 410.65. She also placed fifth in the 3-meter at that event with a 424.05.
 
At the USA Diving Junior Region 12 Championships, Ekstrom won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
 
Ekstrom is set to join the Nittany Lions this Fall.
