Men’s Gymnastics Sends Eight to Compete at U.S. Classic

CHICAGO, Ill.- Penn State men's gymnastics will have eight gymnasts across several class levels competing at the 2023 Core Classic in Chicago, Ill. from Aug. 4-6. The U.S. Classic, in the NOW Arena in Chicago, will host the country's top gymnasts in a field of more than 250 athletes. The event serves as the final qualifier to the 2023 U.S. Gymnastics Championships at the end of August.
 
Among the Penn State student-athletes traveling to the windy city are senior Matt Cormier and freshman Landon Simpson who have already prequalified to U.S. Championships later in the month in San Jose California. 
 
Cormier and Simpson will be joined by Michael Artlip, Luke Esparo, Will Fleck, Michael Jaroh, Matt Underhill and Nate Warren as they represent the Nittany Lions in their efforts to qualify for the Championship. 
 
The competition will begin on Friday, Aug. 4 but the senior men's session will take place on Sunday, Aug. 6 with session one beginning at 11:45 a.m. and the second session beginning at 5:45 p.m. The sessions will be streamed on USA Gymnastics' YouTube Channel
