UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Two current players on the Penn State men's lacrosse team were chosen in the 2023 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft on Saturday. Jack Posey was selected in the fourth round with the 64th pick by the Calgary Roughnecks, while Chris Jordan was selected 14 picks later with the 78th pick in the fifth round by Calgary as well. Posey and Jordan become the tenth and 11th players in program history to be placed on an NLL team.
Jordan and Posey join a Calgary team that went 13-4 last season and advanced to the Western Conference finals where they were edged by the Colorado Mammoth 2-1 in the three-game series. Posey enters his fifth season at Penn State after a 2023 season of career-highs. He was named a USILA, Inside Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention and was also named to the All-Big Ten Second Team as he was the Nittany Lions top defenseman. Posey finished out the season with 11 caused turnovers which is a career-high and scooped a career-high 25 ground balls.
He also notched two goals which came against Penn on March 4. During his career at Penn State, Posey has played in 36 games, scoring four goals, and scooping 47 ground balls. He also has caused 21 turnovers in his career.
Jordan comes back to Penn State following a 2023 season that was cut short due to a mid-season injury. The Garden City, N.Y. native, played in 10 games for the Nittany Lions scoring 12 goals and adding seven assists while scooping nine ground balls and causing six turnovers. In his first appearance as a Nittany Lion, Jordan scored four goals and added two assists against Lafayette.
