Fink Tabbed HCA National Rookie of the Month for November

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – The early season accolades continue to roll in for Penn State freshman forward Aiden Fink (Calgary, Alberta) as he was named the Hockey Commissioners Association National Division I Rookie of the Month for November on Friday afternoon.

Fink becomes just the second Nittany Lion ever to earn HCA national honors joining Evan Barratt who was named the Co-Player of the Month for his play during the month of November as a sophomore in 2018.

Fink was honored by the Big Ten Conference as a Star of the Week for the past two weeks earning Second Star plaudits two weeks ago and Third Star accolades this past week.

The Calgary, Alberta native registered at least one point in six of eight games throughout the month, finishing November on a five-game heater (7-6—13) and has four-straight multi-point efforts entering this weekend's series against Minnesota.

Fink paced the Big Ten and tied for the national lead in goals and assists during the month of November with eight and 14, respectively, while his five-game goal and point streaks are both career-bests. The rookie average 1.00 goals per game and 1.75 points per game in eight games in November.

Fink registered the 11th hat-trick in Penn State history as part of a career-best four-point game in a 5-3 victory over No. 12 Michigan in Ann Arbor two weeks ago. It was just the second road hat-trick by a Nittany Lion and the first against a Big Ten opponent since Barratt back in November 2018.

The freshman's five-game goal streak is just two shy of Barratt's program record of seven-straight games from November 2, 2018, through November 23, 2018, while his four-consecutive games with multiple points is one game shy of the Penn State standard set by both Barratt and Alex Limoges '21 during that same November back in 2018.

Fink's 21 points this season are good for sixth in the nation and second in the Big Ten and rank tops in the conference for rookies and second nationally among first year players. His nine goals are good for third in the Big Ten, are tied for 11th nationally and rank tied for first in the nation among freshmen.

Penn State resumes Big Ten play this weekend as the Nittany Lions host No. 7 Minnesota in Hockey Valley. SRO tickets and verified resale tickets for both games can be purchased HERE.
