Berkowitz Named Mentorship Trailblazer by USTFCCCA Female Coaching Mentorship Program

DENVER – Penn State track & field assistant coach Brie Berkowitz was honored by the USTFCCCA Female Coaching Mentorship Program (FCMP) as a Mentorship Trailblazer in the group at the annual USTFCCCA convection.

"Brie has been an integral part of our program for the past six years, making an incredible impact as a mentor," the FCMP committee stated. "She's been instrumental in shaping the careers of many female coaches, providing support, and boosting their confidence. Brie's dedication and influence have been exceptional. Her passion for empowering women in coaching is evident in the growth of our mentees. This award is a well-deserved recognition of her time spent in the program."

Berkowitz is in her third season at Penn State, coaching the pole vault and horizontal jumps for the Nittany Lions. She has coached an All-American and a Big Ten Champion during her time in Happy Valley, and her athletes own both the men's and women's indoor and outdoor pole vault school records at Penn State.

"We are so fortunate to have Brie on our staff and working with our student athletes here at Penn State," said head coach John Gondak. "She brings great energy every day and is so passionate about what she does—it's infectious on us all."

Her impact as a mentor affects not only her student-athletes, but her peers as well.

"Her mentoring and leadership skills help her succeed as a coach, and as you can see from this award, she shares her knowledge with her peers! This award is very well-deserved, and we couldn't be happier for Brie."
