UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's and women's fencing ended the season at the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships at Ohio State on Sunday and finished in fifth place in the combined team standings. The Nittany Lions crowned two All-Americans from the men's team, including a national runner-up.
Denville, N.J. native Neil Lilov was the No. 2 seed going into the sabre semifinals on Sunday afternoon. The sophomore faced No. 3 Luca Fioretto of Ohio State and beat him 15-7. Lilov fell 15-13 in the championship bout against No. 1 Luke Linder of Notre Dame. Lilov won 19/23 bouts throughout the tournament.
Junior Kamar Skeete finished in 6th place to become a two-time All-American in sabre. Skeete first earned the accolade his freshman year and was sidelined his sophomore season due to injury. He won 14/23 bouts throughout the tournament.
In men's foil, Freshman Tit Nam Cheng recorded 12/23 wins to put him in 11th place. Three-time All American and team captain Arwen Borowiak fell short of the podium this year, winning 10/23 to put him in 13th place overall.
Tingwei Xu took home 12th place in men's epee with 12/23 wins and Devin Tafoya finished in 17th place with 9/23 wins.
Penn State finished in 5th place, behind champion Harvard, Notre Dame, Columbia/Barnard and Princeton.
