Manning and O’Neill Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State women's lacrosse's Sydney Manning and Kristin O'Neill have earned Big Ten Weekly Awards, the conference announced Tuesday.

Manning is dubbed Freshman of the Week after coming up clutch in the second half of Penn State's overtime victory against No. 1 Northwestern, 14-13. The goalkeeper notched four saves and scooped up a ground ball in the win. She allowed just four goals, a season best.

In the final seconds of the third quarter, Manning gave the Nittany Lions the momentum they needed to finish game. The Malvern, Pa. native made a huge stop to keep the game tied 10-10, which eventually would lead to the game going into overtime.

This is Manning's first Big Ten Weekly Award.

O'Neill claims her first Offensive Player of the Week honor after scoring the game winning overtime goal against the Wildcats. The senior captain tied her season high six goals in the victory.

The Odenton, Md. native is ranked No. 1 in the nation in free position goals per game with 1.70.

O'Neill was named the Big Ten's Midfielder of the Week last week after helping the Nittany Lions win against Lehigh and Cornell.

Penn State will travel to Columbus to face Ohio State Thursday, March 28 at 7 p.m.
