UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's lacrosse student-athletes Jack Fracyon and TJ Malone were announced as two of the 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award as the foundation announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Malone has been on track for another career year this season. Nationally, he ranks 11th in assists per game at 2.80 and third in points per game with 5.60, leading the Big Ten in both categories. On the year, Malone has a total of 56 points off 28 goals and 28 assists. This is the second straight year he's been named a top 25 nominee.
Fracyon currently sits ninth in the nation in GAA at 9.51 while placing second in the Big Ten. He sits first in the Big Ten in save percentage at .587 while sitting sixth nationally. He tallied a career-high 19 saves in Penn State's 14-8 victory over Michigan on Saturday, April 13. This is the first time in his career he has been named a top 25 nominee.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, April 19 when they face Rutgers on the road for the team's final regular season game. Game-time is set for 6 p.m.
