UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's lacrosse team welcomed Evan Hanberry as their new Athletic Performance Coach, head coach Jeff Tambroni announced on Thursday.
Hanberry comes to Happy Valley after serving six years as the Senior Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Air Force Academy. During his time with the Falcons, he devised in-season, off-season, and pre-season strength, power, agility, and speed development programs for the Air Force football team. He also took the lead in running team training sessions of up to 180 athletes at a time.
Prior to the Air Force Academy, Hanberry served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Pittsburgh where he served during the 2017-18 season. While at the University of Pittsburgh, Hanberry guided the development of Olympic sports, provided instruction and demonstration for lifting techniques and took the lead in group training sessions.
He also had a stint as a strength and conditioning coach at Mt. Lebanon High School from 2017-18. At Mt. Lebanon, he was tasked with the creation of a year-round training program for the varsity football, ice hockey, women's basketball, and men's and women's soccer programs to increase their on-field performance and prevent injury.
Hanberry earned bachelor’s degree in advertising from Duquesne University and his master’s degree in science from the University of Pittsburgh.
