UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State baseball, under head coach Mike Gambino, has welcomed 27 newcomers to its roster ahead of Fall 2024 practice and the 2025 season.
The 27 newcomers include 15 transfers and 12 freshmen. Penn State welcomed 13 pitchers and 14 position players.
Among the 27 newcomers, 10 are from Pennsylvania, three from California, three from New Jersey, two from Illinois, two from Maryland and one each from Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and Virginia.
The transfers include eight coming directly from Division I programs and 13 who have played for a Division I program. Eight of the 15 transfers played for a Power Five program. Seven have helped a Division I program to an NCAA Regional appearance and three have played on College World Series teams.
In 2024, Penn State went 29-24 overall and 12-12 in Big Ten play. The 29 wins are Penn State’s most under a first-year head coach.
Penn State posted its first winning record in the regular season since 2016 (28-27) and maintained a .500 or better mark from the entire season for the first time since 2011 (32-22). The Blue and White notched its best record in Big Ten play since going 12-12 in 2016.
Penn State reached the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game for the first time since 2000 and won three-straight games to open the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in program history.
