Penn State Sends Two Teams to USA Volleyball Men's Beach Collegiate Challenge

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Men’s Volleyball has two teams competing in this weekend’s USA Volleyball Men’s Beach Collegiate Challenge, hosted by Stevenson University at Mustang Beach in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Ryan Merk will team with Will Kuhns, and Owen Rose will team with Carter Dittman for the three-day event, which runs Friday-Sunday. The tournament features 32 teams.

Penn State has had a team place in the top three in each of the first three years of the Men’s Beach Collegiate Challenge. Merk finished third alongside former Penn State teammate Michael Valenzi at last year’s competition thanks to a win over Dittman and Kuhns in the third-place match.

The Nittany Lions had teams win each of the first two years. Merk and Valenzi won the title in 2022, while their former teammates Will Bantle and Cal Fisher won the inaugural event in 2021.

A live stream of courts one and two is available via Stevenson University Athletics.
