Lady Lions Welcome Jill Jekot in January of 2024

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Jill Jekot joins the Lady Lions as an early enrollee after graduating from Cumberland Valley High School. The incoming freshman signed her National Letter of Intent in November and arrives in Happy Valley eligible to practice and travel with the team for the rest of the season. Jekot will wear number 24 for the blue and white this spring.

A Cumberland Valley women's basketball standout, Jekot was a highly sought out recruit. The three-time captain has been engulfed in women's basketball from a young age. Her three older sisters all went on to play collegiate basketball after playing at Cumberland Valley High School, including Kelly, a 2021-22 graduate transfer of Penn State, who utilized her fifth season as a member of the Lady Lions basketball program.

Jekot had an impressive high school career as a two-time Mid Penn All-Conference First Team selection, three-time First Team All-Sentinel honoree and two-time first team All-State member. The Pennsylvania native was named Ms. PA Top Underclassman each of her first two seasons playing for Cumberland Valley. Jekot concluded her junior campaign averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. She added several accolades to her name following the season including the Mid Penn Commonwealth Player of the Year Award, the Hempfield Tip-Off Tournament MVP and earned United Ban Myrtle Beach Classic All-Tournament honors.

Collegiate athletics runs deep in the Jekot family, with both her parents playing Division II sports at Lock Haven and her three older sisters playing various levels of collegiate basketball.

When asked why she chose Penn State, Jekot said, "I chose Penn State because it has the highest level of athletic and academic expectations I am looking for. I cannot wait to work with the women's basketball coaching staff. They have showed me that all of my goals can be met on and off the court."
