Field Hockey’s Phia Gladieux and Julienne van Bekkum Named to NFHCA Mideast All-Region Team

Gladieux earns first team honors while van Bekkum named to second team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  – The Penn State field hockey team has two players on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Mideast All-Region Team. Senior Phia Gladieux has been named first team NFHCA Mideast All-Region and graduate student Julienne van Bekkum has been named second team NFHCA Mideast All-Region.

For Gladiuex, this marks the fifth time she has earned first team All-Region laurels. Gladieux ends her stellar Penn State career with her fifth straight first team All-Big Ten honor. With NFHCA regional and national honors still to come, Gladieux’s career accolades are elite: 2024 Olympian (Paris); First team All-Big Ten (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024); NFHCA first team All-Region (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024); NFHCA second team All-American (2020), NFHCA first team All-American (2021, 2022, 2023).; NFHCA Mideast Regional Player of the Year (2021, 2022); Big Ten All-Tournament Team (2021, 2023); 2022 NCAA All-Tournament Team; Honda Award Finalist for Field Hockey (2022); Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year (2022, 2023); Big Ten Player of the Year (2022); Penn State Female Athlete of the Year (2022-23); NFHCA National All-Academic Team (2021. 2022, 2023); Academic All-Big Ten (2021, 2022, 2023). The Boyertown, Pa., native had 44 points this season off 20 goals and four assists. She leaves Penn State as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer (94) and all-time leader in points (94 goals, 14 assists.).

Grad student van Bekkum takes home her first NFHCA All-Region award with this year’s second team nod. Van Bekkum, who has already earned NFHCA National All-Academic honors, started all season long, anchoring the Penn State defense. Van Bekkum played two seasons with Penn State, seeing action in 33 games and starting all season in 2024. She ended this year with three goals and six assists for nine points and has
