Men’s Swimming and Diving Travel to Columbus For Big Ten Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Penn State Men's Swimming and Diving Team travels to Columbus, Ohio, beginning Wednesday for the Big Ten Championships. 

The event will start on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. with the preliminary swims. Thursday, Feb. 29, Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, will feature both a morning session for preliminary qualifying and then  afternoon session for the final in each swim category. The morning sessions begin at 10 a.m. and the finals session begins at 5 p.m.

The Nittany Lions will face several top ranked teams in Columbus as several Big Ten swimming programs hold CSCAA national rankings. No. 5 Indiana, No. 14 Ohio State, No. 18 Michigan and No. 22 Wisconsin will all be in attendance. Northwestern and Minnesota have both received votes in the same poll.

The Nittany Lions top swimmers of the season will be on hand hoping to post several strong times. 

Junior Victor Baganha has led the charge for the Nittany Lions this season in the freestyle events. He will look to make an impact in the 50, 100 and 200 free this weekend. 

Senior Lachlan Byrne has also been a standout for the Nittany Lions posting fast times in several events including being part of Penn State's strong 400 medley relay team alongside Baganha. 

Sophomore Cooper Morley has come on strong late in the season for the Nittany Lions and looks to continue his hot streak. In his last meet against Villanova, Morley won the 100 back and finished second in the 200 back. 

Beating Morley last time out in the 200 back, Junior Jack Harvey also has emerged strong in the late season and looks to make an impact in the backstroke events. 

Senior Calvin Wise looks to finish his career with the Nittany Lions on a high note as he's swam strong all season in the breaststroke.
