OTTAWA, Ontario – Penn State women’s hockey alumna Jessica Adolfsson inked a 10-day Standard Player Agreement (SPA) with the Ottawa Charge of the professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) on Friday. Adolfsson becomes the first Nittany Lion alumnae to join a PWHL team in program history.
Adolfsson played for the Nittany Lions from 2018 to 2021, where she tallied 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists during her three seasons. The Linkoping, Sweden native sits eighth all-time in career points by a defenseman and ninth in career assists by a defenseman. She also served as an assistant captain for the Nittany Lions during her time in Hockey Valley.
The left shot defender was also an alternate captain while playing professionally with Linköping HC of the SDHL during the last three seasons. Her best offensive campaign was in 2021-22, recording 25 points (6G, 19A) in 33 games.
Internationally, Adolfsson represented Sweden at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing where she recorded one assist in five tournament games. In 2017, 2019, and 2022, she also played in the IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, earning a spot on the Tournament All-Star team.
Adolfsson will make her PWHL debut on Saturday against the Boston Fleet at 2 p.m.
