UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field’s preview series continues with the Nittany Lion throws group. Following a strong 2024, assistant coach Nathan Ott’s throws squads enter 2025 with plenty of new and exciting faces, brimming with excitement following an exceptional performance in the Nittany Lions’ December opener.
MEN’S TEAM
Stellar returners to Penn State’s men’s throws group are Dylan Lambrecht and Collin Burkhart. Coming back from an injury that derailed his outdoor season last year, Burkhart will look to climb the Nittany Lion record books in the weight throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw events while Lambrecht seeks to make his mark in the shot put.
Graduating shot put stalwarts Lucciano Pizarro and Duane Knisely from last year’s roster, the Nittany Lions reloaded this season and will welcome standout transfers Ryan Henry and Nathan Williams, along with PIAA medalist freshman Matthew Sarnowski.
Williams was a three-time NCAA Division III All-American at Stevenson, while Henry won two Horizon League titles during his time at Youngstown State. In the Nittany Lions’ first meet of the 2024-25 season, Henry established himself as a contender in his new conference, taking home Big Ten Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after his personal-best 62-0.5 (18.91m) shot put effort.
WOMEN’S TEAM
Alex Pancoast is coming off a strong 2024 season in which she set personal records in hammer throw, shot put and discus throw. Additional returners to the Penn State women’s throws group this season include NCAA East First Round qualifier junior Audrey Friedman in the javelin throw.
Penn State’s women’s throws group will feature four freshmen this upcoming season: Gabby Cope, Marley Croyle, Sasha Garnett and Skye Petrie-Cameron. Cope was a Nike Indoor Nationals All-American, while Croyle won a PIAA silver medal in the javelin throw.
