Penn State Track & Field: 2025 Jumps Season Preview

Standout veterans, highly-touted newcomers make up 2025 jumps crew

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Next in the Penn State track & field season preview series is the Nittany Lions’ jumps group.

Assistant coaches Brie Berkowitz and Fritz Spence return valuable contributors to Penn State’s jumps squads as they prepare for the resumption of the 2025 season. The men’s team’s trio of high jumpers along with an excellent group of pole vaulters on the women’s side have the Nittany Lions primed for a strong year.

WOMEN’S TEAM

Pole vaulter Victoria Atkinson returns to lead an excellent group of Penn State jumpers on the women’s team. Atkinson ranks top-four in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault events at Penn State and qualified to the NCAA East First Round meet last outdoor season.

Additional returners to the women’s group include high jumper Gwendolyn Cudmore, triple jumper Lizzie Schreiber, and pole vaulter Meredith Baham.

Talented newcomers to the Penn State women’s jumps group include freshmen high jumpers Hannah Riolo and Katie Becker, freshman pole vaulter Amelia McBain, and grad transfer pole vaulter Gabriella Recce.

MEN’S TEAM

Veteran high jumpers Isaac Osifo, Tim Watson, and Robert Allen, along with pole vaulters Tristan McGarrah and Jonathan Petersen return to the Nittany Lions in 2025 following successful 2024 campaigns. Osifo and McGarrah each posted top-five finishes at the Big Ten Championships and qualified to the NCAA East Prelims in their respective events last season.

Additional returners to the group include horizontal jumpers Emi Erekosima and Joe White.

Newcomers to the Penn State men’s jumps squad, namely four Pennsylvania high school standouts in their respective events, include freshman pole vaulters Mason Bucks, Breckin Swope, and Nathan Lutz, as well as freshmen horizontal jumper Kyle Moore.
