HISTORY

  • Penn State is facing the Lions for the 50th and 51st times in program history.
  • The Nittany Lions currently lead the series 34-10-6.
  • The last time the two teams faced each other came on November 16, 2024 where the Nittany Lions defeated the Lions 7-1.

  • Lindenwood enters the series with an 3-19-2 overall record and a 2-9-1 record in AHA play.
  • They are coming off a pair of losses to Mercyhurst on January 17-18 by scores of 3-1 and 5-2.
  • Leading their offense is Morgan Neitzke who tallies 16 points on eight goals and eight assists.

  • Penn State sits a top the AHA in wins and points as they sit nine points ahead of second place Mercyhurst in the league standings. 

 

ONE POINT AWAY FROM HISTORY

  • Lyndie Lobdell needs just one point to become the all-time points leader among defensemen at Penn State. 
  • Currently, she and Izzy Heminger share the lead with 80 points.
  • Lobdell currently has 18 goals and 62 assists in her five seasons as a Nittany Lion. 

SITTING IN THE TOP 10

  • For just the second time in program history, the Nittany Lions sit eighth in the nation in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey polls. 
  • The last time the Nittany Lions sat this high in the standings was back during the 2021-22 season.

JANECKE HITS MILESTONE

  • Tessa Janecke etched her name in the Penn State women's hockey record book as she became the program leader in career points following their 4-0 shutout win over Syracuse on January 18. She potted a goal against the Orange to surpass the record.
  • Janecke has 138 career points which is one point ahead of the previous record holder Natalie Heising who had 137. 
  • The Orangeville, Ill. native's points come off 56 goals and 82 assists through her three years as a Nittany Lion.    

DESA AND OUTWATER COLLECT WEEKLY AWARDS

  • Atlantic Hockey America named Penn State women’s ice hockey goalie Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Week and freshman forward Grace Outwater Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. 
  • DeSa captured a pair of shutout victories against Syracuse this week. She tallied 43 saves, which included an 18 save showing in the Nittany Lions 1-0 overtime victory over the Orange on Friday night. 
  • On the year, DeSa has six shutout wins this season and has nine in her career which places her third all-time in program history in shutout wins.
  • She currently holds an 18-4-0 record which sits second in the nation in wins. She has a GAA of 1.41, which ranks fifth in the nation and save percentage of .934, which sits 10th in the nation. This is DeSa’s sixth weekly honor of the year and ninth weekly honor of her career.
  • Outwater tallied a pair of goals against Syracuse on Saturday, January 18, which included her first collegiate short-handed goal.
  • The multi-goal game was Outwater’s fourth of the year. The Picton, Ontario native, currently sits second in the nation in points among freshman with 22 on 13 goals and nine assists. She sits third in the AHA in goals and seventh in the league in points. The weekly award is her fourth weekly honor this season.
