UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball announced modifications to its 2025 season schedule Monday morning, with the Nittany Lions now set to face two different opponents than previously released in the first and fourth weekends of the season.
The Nittany Lions open the program’s 60th anniversary season at the 2025 NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic as previously released, with the Blue & White to face the returning Women’s College World Series participant Duke Blue Devils in a 5 p.m. (ET) test from the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida, on Friday, February 7. Penn State will next face off against returning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year NiJaree Canady, a recent transfer to Texas Tech, in an 8 p.m. (ET) test later that night. PSU will now battle Kennesaw State and Mississippi State on Saturday, February 8, followed by a 10 a.m. (ET) battle with Notre Dame to close the weekend out on Sunday, February 9.
Penn State’s next two tournaments, hosted by USF and LSU, will both proceed as scheduled. The Nittany Lions’ trip to the Hokie Invite, hosted by Virginia Tech from the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia, will feature an altered schedule. PSU will now open the Hokie Invite on Friday, February 28, with a 10 a.m. (ET) test against Robert Morris which will be followed by a contest against Radford. On Saturday, March 1, Penn State will challenge James Madison and host-Virginia Tech, with the tournament concluding on Sunday, March 2, against Villanova.
