The Nittany Lions enter the 2025 campaign following a 2024 year in which they collected 15 regular season wins and advanced to the NCAA Regional Final for the first time since the new format was introduced in 2019.
The group returns the services of WCGA North East Region Co-Gymnast of the Year, Ava Piedrahita, and Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Kalea McElligott. The pair of all-around stars for the Nittany Lions are set to continue to be mainstays in Head Coach Sarah Brown’s lineups.
Brown herself won the 2024 WCGA North East Region Head Coach of the Year while her coaching staff of Rachel Inniss, Ralph Rosso, and Lynnzee Brown earned Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year honors in the region. The group signed the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the nation, according to CollegeGymNews, and those athletes will get their first chance to contribute when the Nittany Lions take the floor on Sunday.
In the all-time series, the Nittany Lions carry an unblemished 10-0 record against Penn and a 28-5-1 mark against New Hampshire into Sunday’s tri-meet.
WHAT’S NEXT
The Nittany Lions will travel to Texas to compete in the San Antonio Invite along with No. 17 Auburn, No. 20 Arizona State, Temple, and fellow Big Ten member, No. 24 Maryland.
