MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - Day one of the men’s Big Ten Championships are complete, and Penn State got off to a hot start in its first two races of the weekend in the 200 Medley relay and 800 Free relays.
The 2024 200 Medley Relay team that holds the school record and finished second in last year’s Big Ten competition, and 16th in the nation, competed again for a chance at redemption. Cooper Morley, Mariano Lazzerini, Matthew Bittner and Victor Bagahna finished in seventh place with a 1:24.02.
The second and final event of the day was the 800 Free relay, where the Nittany Lions combined efforts resulted in a new school record of 6:22.37. Sean Honey, Tylor Kim, Eduardo Cisternas and Rylan Anselm touched ninth overall with this monumental swim.
Events will conclude at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, February 27th for preliminary competitions, followed by finals at 5:00 p.m.
