Swim and Dive Conclude Day Two of Big Tens

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - Day two of Big Tens was an exciting one for the Nittany Lions full of new records and high anticipation for the remainder of the weekend. The Blue and White competed in the 50 Free, 200 IM, 500 Free and 200 Free relay events for both preliminary and final competitions. 

The day got off to a hot start at the hands of freshman Rylan Anselm, who swam for a new personal best time of 4:23.40. 

For today’s second event, junior Matthew Bittner shocked in the 200 IM, swimming for a new personal and school record, finalizing a 1:43.78 finish. Bittner was closely followed by the previous school record holder in Alex Karahalis, who swam for a personal best as well, finishing in 1:44.49, for the second fastest time in school history. The IM duo swam in the event finals, where Bittner finished in 16th, and Karahalis in 23rd. 

Senior Victor Baganha had a dominant day in the 50 Free where he swam a 19.42 in the preliminary competition, and finished the day with a 19.56, 20th place finish and B Cut accolades. 

Junior Hayden Elliott competed for the 1 meter diving title, where he finished with a 271.40 on the day. 

The Blue and White closed out the day with an 8th place finish in the 200 Free relay. Victory Bagahna, Cooper Morley, Jack Harvey and Tylor Kim combined for a 1:17.79 race.
