Penn State to Host 2025 NCAA National Championships; Nittany Lion Men’s and Women’s Teams Qualify Eight Fencers

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams qualified 8 fencers out of a possible 12 for the 2025 NCAA National Championships. The NCAA Championships will be held in Multi-Sport Facility here at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa from March 20-23.

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on March 20 with rounds 1-3 of men's epee. men's foil rounds 1-3 will begin at 11 a.m. and men's sabre rounds 1-3 will conclude the day at 1:30 p.m. On Friday, March 21, all three men’s weapons will continue with rounds 4-5 at 9 a.m. Semifinal and championship bouts will begin at 1:30 p.m.

The women will begin action on Saturday, March 22 with rounds 1-3 of women’s epee at 9 a.m. Women’s foil rounds 1-3 will begin at 11 a.m. and women’s sabre will conclude Saturday’s action starting at 1:30 p.m.

On Sunday, March 23, all three women’s weapons will continue with rounds 4-5 at 9 a.m. Semifinal and championship bouts will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Semifinal and championship bouts for all six weapons will be streamed on ESPN+

Arwen Borowiak will be competing in men's foil. Borowiak is a senior+ from Tauberbischofsheim, Germany. He has qualified for the NCAA tournament and is a three-time All-American (2021, 2022, 2023).

Tingwei Xu and Mohamed Yasseen have qualified in men's epee. Xu is a junior from Suzhou, China. In last year’s tournament he took home 12th place in men's epee with 12/23 wins. Yasseen is a first-year student from Tanta, Egypt and will be competing in his first NCAA Tournament this year. Neil Lilov and Kamar Skeete will compete in men's sabre. Lilov is a junior from Denville, N.J. He returns as a National Runner-up, having placed second in the 2024 National Championships and was an All-American. Skeete is a senior from Duluth, Ga. In last year’s tournament he finished in 6th place to become a two-time All-American in sabre.

On the women's side, Kateryna Chorniy and Allegra Cristofoletto will fence epee. Chorniy is a senior+ from Kyiv, Ukraine. She is a two-time All-American, having finished third in 2021 and 2022. Cristofoletto is a first-year student from Treviso, Italy and will be competing in her first NCAA tournament this year.

Eunyu Kim will compete in sabre. Kim is a sophomore from Seoul, Korea who qualified for their first NCAA Tournament this year.
