Baseball Hosts St. Bonaventure, Lafayette

Nittany Lions battle Bonnies, Leopards in midweek contests

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team welcomes St. Bonaventure on Tuesday and Lafayette on Wednesday for a pair of non-conference matchups. Both games are set for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Both games will be broadcast on B1G+.

 

All home games are free admission for all ages.

 

Tuesday’s game is Dollar Dog Night, featuring $1 hot dogs.

 

Penn State, led by head coach Mike Gambino, is 14-4 this season after winning two of three games at Northwestern.

 

St. Bonaventure, coached by Jason Rathbun, owns a 7-11 mark this season. The Bonnies fell in all three games at Richmond last weekend.

 

Lafayette, coached by A.J. Miller, is 2-16 after dropping three games at Penn last weekend.

  • The Nittany Lions are set to host their second Dollar Dog Night of the 2025 season, featuring $1 hot dogs.
  • Penn State’s first Dollar Dog Night of the season, against FDU on March 4, featured 4,049 fans and 5,960 hot dogs consumed.
  • Penn State’s Dollar Dog Nights became popular in 2023 and returned with strong numbers in 2024.
  • Across nine Dollar Dog Nights in 2023 and 2024, Penn State fans have consumed 35,177 hot dogs, averaging 3,908.6 per Dollar Dog Night.
  • On April 16, 2024 against Kent State, The Nittany Lions set a new attendance record (5,025), topping 5,000 fans for the first time in program history. PSU fans consumed a Dollar Dog record 8,591 hot dogs.

 

DOLLAR DOG NIGHT PRE-ORDER

  • Leap the lines on Dollar Dog Night! Dollar Dog packages are now available for pre-order up until noon on the day of the game, through https://statecollegespikes.ordernext.com/
  • Fans can click the Dollar Dog icon at the top and select the upcoming Dollar Dog Night game from the “select your event” drop-down menu to pre-purchase their Dollar Dog 4-Pack or Dollar Dog 9-Inning Challenge Pack. All packages can be picked up at the right field concessions stand counter on Dollar Dog Night.
  • All Dollar Dog package purchases made are final unless the game is canceled or postponed, in which case refunds will be issued for packages not already picked up. No refunds will be issued for packages including beer that are unable to be picked up due to failure to produce proper identification.

 

PARKING

  • Fan parking is available in Porter North and Jordan East lots.
  • Prepaid parking is available until midnight the day before the game for $5.50 at psu.parkmobile.io
  • Day of game parking is available through Honk for $10, please see the in-lot signage for the QR code and text-to-pay options.

 

SUITE TICKETS

  • Fans can enjoy the action from climate-controlled Luxury Suites at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
  • These 20-person suites offer a fantastic view of Mount Nittany while providing a luxurious experience for fans and their guests.
  • Luxury Suites are available for $400 per game, with a limited number of suites available for each game on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • After winning its series at Northwestern, the Nittany Lions are off to a 14-4 start.
  • With a 14-4 mark, Penn State is off to its best 18-game start since going 15-3 to begin the 1979 season.
  • Penn State started Big Ten play with series victories in each of its first two series for the first time since 2014.
  • The Nittany Lions have tallied 10+ runs in 12 games this season, tied for third in the country, and four times in six Big Ten games. PSU has 12 games of 10+ runs within the first 18 games of a season for the first time in program history and has 12 games of 10+ runs in a season for the 10th time in program history.
  • With its win in game one against Indiana on March 7, the Nittany Lions had a nine-game win streak for the first time since 2000.

 

NITTANY LIONS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN HOMERS, STEALS

  • Through 18 games, Penn State has slugged 37 home runs.
  • The Nittany Lions rank eighth in the country, and leads the Big Ten, averaging 2.06 homers per game.
  • Penn State also ranks 11th in the nation in total home runs and 16th in slugging percentage (.552).
  • Paxton Kling leads the Nittany Lions with nine homers, while sitting 12th in the country in total homers and seventh in home runs per game (0.50).
  • Kling is among nine Nittany Lions with at least one home run this season and is one of eight with multiple homers.
  • Jesse Jaconski and Jack Porter each own five homers, while Bryce Molinaro, Nate Voss and Ryan Weingartner each have four homers. Joe Jaconski and Cole Wagner have two.
  • Penn State is one of four Big Ten teams with three players with 5+ homers.
  • Penn State has launched four grand slams, including two by Kling, one by Molinaro and one by Voss.
  • The Nittany Lions are also eighth in the country in stolen bases per game (2.83), pacing the Big Ten.

NITTANY LIONS WIN IN EVANSTON

  • Penn State earned a series win at Northwestern, claiming the first two games of the series.
  • The Nittany Lions collected 40 hits and 26 runs, while blasting eight homers and stealing nine bases.
  • Jack Porter homered in all three games in the series.
  • In game one on Friday, Paxton Kling had three hits, including a homer, and three RBI, while Porter notched three hits, with a homer, and two RBI. Jesse Jaconski added a homer and three RBI.
  • On the mound, Ryan DeSanto fired five shutout innings, allowing just one hit, and struck out five. Anthony Steele followed with a career-high three innings and a career best-tying five strikeouts.
  • In Saturday’s first game, Kling had a double and a solo homer among three hits, while Jaconski drove in three runs with a homer and a two-run single. Porter added a two-run homer.
  • Mason Butash and Ben DeMell combined for six scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
  • In game three, PSU rallied for five runs in the sixth, boosted by a two-run homer by Bryce Molinaro and a solo blast by Porter.
