Women’s Tennis Welcomes No. 14 USC and No. 24 UCLA to Happy Valley

The Nittany Lions host the Trojans on Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m. and the Bruins on Sunday at 11 a.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Women’s Tennis (12-4, 3-3 B1G) hosts two ranked opponents this weekend in No. 14 USC (9-3, 3-1 B1G) on Friday, March 28 and No. 24 UCLA (7-6, 2-2 B1G) on Sunday. The match against the Trojans is slated for a 3 p.m. start while the contest against the Bruins is set for 11 a.m. 

The weekend will feature promotions at both matches. On Friday, there will be a pizza giveaway after doubles play concludes. For Sunday’s match, there will be a donut giveaway and the opportunity to win a tennis racket.  

In Case You Missed it 

  • Penn State split last weekend’s road trip at Rutgers and Maryland. The Nittany Lions defeated the Scarlet Knights, 4-1, while dropping to Maryland, 4-0.  
  • Maiko Uchijima clinched the victory against the Scarlet Knights with a court two singles win over Frankowska, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. 
  • On court three, Grigoras defeated Jumazhanova, 6-4, 6-4.  
  • Cegarra triumphed 6-4, 6-3 over Lopez on court five. 

Scouting Report - USC 

  • The Trojans boast a 9-3 (3-1 B1G) record. They split their series this past weekend with a 4-0 win over Michigan State and a 4-3 loss to No. 3 Michigan. 
  • USC has one ranked doubles tandem and three ranked singles players according to ITA.  
  • In doubles, Lily Fairclough and Grace Piper are ranked No. 3 in the country with a 15-4 record this season across the fall and spring including a top 16 finish at the NCAA Doubles Championships.  
  • Piper is ranked No. 46 in singles. She holds a 12-10 record for the 2024-25 season.  
  • Emma Charney, ranked No. 69 in singles, stands at 17-9 this season.  
  • Imogen Haddad holds a ranking of No. 82. She has a 15-9 singles record. 

Scouting Report - UCLA 

  • The Bruins hold a 7-6 (2-2 B1G) record. Like USC, they split the weekend series with a 4-1 loss to No. 3 Michigan and a 4-0 win against Michigan State. 
  • UCLA has two ranked doubles teams in No. 3 Olivia Center and Kate Fakih (21-5, 8-2 dual) and No. 31 Kimmi Hance and Elise Wagle (10-6, 4-3 dual). 
  • For singles, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer is ranked No. 29 with a 21-7 (8-3 dual) record. 
  • Fakih stands at No. 38 in the country, boasting a 23-7 (9-2 dual) record.  
  • Wagle ranks No. 64, holding a 12-9 (5-4 dual) mark.  
  • Hance is ranked No. 78 in the nation with a 6-9 (5-5 dual) record.
