Wolfe Named to U.S. U20 Women’s Youth National Team Camp

West Chester, Pennsylvania, native set to join USYNT U20 camp in Kansas City beginning March 31

CHICAGO – Penn State junior defender Kaelyn Wolfe became the Nittany Lions’ sixth selection to a United States Women’s Youth National Team camp this spring, as the West Chester, Pennsylvania, native garnered a selection to the U20 team’s camp in Kansas City, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced on Friday.

Wolfe burst onto the scene in her first two seasons with the Blue & White as a contributor on the back line, both as a center back and fullback. The Penn Stater has amassed 1,760 minutes in the field over the course of her first two collegiate campaigns, racking up a total of five points split between a goal and a trio of assists out of the back row. In last season’s run to the national quarterfinals, Wolfe booked career highs in practically every statistic, including 24 matches played, seven matches started, a goal and two assists in addition to a career-high 10 shots and seven on-target shot attempts.

Penn State’s extensive placement of student-athletes into the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team program continues to yield positive results, both for the individual players and the program. Wolfe becomes the sixth Nittany Lion student-athlete named to a USYNT camp in the last 48 hours, with the rising junior joining a trio of returning players and a pair of incoming freshmen. The quintet of announcements on Thursday were further supplemented by the selection of program alumna Katie Scott to the U.S. U18 Women’s Youth National Team, adding a feather to her cap in her rookie National Women’s Soccer League campaign.

Becki Tweed, a current assistant coach for the San Diego Wave, a former assistant coach and head coach for Angel City FC and former U.S. U20 Women’s National Team assistant coach, will run the camp, which features 22 college players and two professionals from the National Women’s Soccer League. While players born in 2005 are too old to be eligible for next U-20 WWC, players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006, are age-eligible for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The U.S. U19 and U.S. U18 Women’s National Teams, which are holding a camp in Fayetteville, Georgia, during this FIFA window, feature the majority of the players who will populate the U.S. team that attempts to qualify for the World Cup at the 2025 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship, set for May 29-June 8 in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The USA will face host Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Guyana in Group A play. The top four finishers in the tournament will advance to represent the region at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. Penn State saw a total of five current or incoming student-athletes named to the player pool for the concurrent camps in Georgia, including sophomore defender Bella Ayscue, redshirt freshman defender Kieryn Jeter, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Kealey Titmuss, as well as incoming freshmen midfielders Riley Cross and Kennedy Ring.
