ATLANTA – Penn State softball experienced a pair of setbacks in its final day of non-conference road competition in the 2025 season, dropping a 10-2 decision to the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowgirls in six innings before falling in five frames to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by a 10-0 differential on Saturday from Mewborn Field.
Entering the team’s non-conference weekend in Georgia, sophomore designated player Brooke Klosowicz stood atop Division I softball with the most doubles, and the longest active reached-base streak in the country. Both of those accomplishments were further cemented following Saturday’s play, with the Johnsburg, Illinois, native reaching first via walk in the opener against Oklahoma State to make it 30-straight games on base. Klosowicz extended the streak to 31 against Georgia Tech, mashing her 16th double of the season as the Nittany Lion leadoff hitter in the top of the first inning against the Yellow Jackets. Klosowicz’ season tally of 16 two-baggers now stands tied for sixth all-time in the PSU record book alongside current Nittany Lion teammate Maddie Gordon’s season-long tally from the 2024 campaign. Klosowicz now needs two doubles to tie, and three to surpass the all-time Penn State program record in the statistic.
In addition to Klosowicz’ individual efforts on Saturday, five additional Penn Staters managed to muster at least one hit across both halves of the doubleheader. Senior right fielder Haylie Brunson managed the only multi-hit outing on the day for PSU, going 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the lid-lifter against Oklahoma State to mark her 12th multi-hit game of the season, the second-best mark on the PSU roster. Fifth year first baseman Meagan Ricks added her fourth home run of the 2025 season and 10th of her collegiate career in the contest against Oklahoma State, making Brunson and Ricks responsible for both PSU runs scored in the contest against the Cowgirls. Elsewhere on the box score, sophomore shortstop Kaylie Walters, junior center fielder Jenna Nelson and sophomore second baseman Michela Barbanente all managed a hit across both halves of Saturday’s action.
Saturday’s opener against Oklahoma State got out to a competitive start, with both teams engaging in a feeling-out process through the early going. Both teams mustered runners in scoring position in the first inning, but the Cowgirls were ultimately the first squad on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the second plating the opening run. OSU mustered three more scores in the home half of the third and maintained a four-run edge heading into the top of the fifth, when the Nittany Lions attempted a comeback effort. After a Penn State flyout put the first out on the board, Brunson stepped into the batter’s box and crushed the first pitch of her at-bat high over the wall in right center to get the Nittany Lion scoring started on Saturday afternoon. A grounder put two away just before Ricks went to the plate and took a solid cut for a first-pitch foul ball. Ricks lifted the very next pitch over the wall in center field for the 50th Nittany Lion dinger of 2025. Oklahoma State replied with one run in the home half, and tacked on five more in the bottom of the sixth to close out the 10-2 finish in six frames.
The Nittany Lions looked to shift the momentum heading into the second game of the day, with Klosowicz starting things off in the top of the first with an impressive leadoff double in an 0-2 count that was drilled straight into center field. Georgia Tech managed to work their way out of the early jam to keep PSU off the board, but the Nittany Lion defense came together to limit the Yellow Jackets to a single hit with two runners left on and zero runs in the bottom half. Georgia Tech managed to take an 8-0 tally after a big inning in the bottom of the second, with the Yellow Jackets tacking on two more insurance scores in the bottom of the fourth to close the book on the 10-0 result in five innings.
Following Saturday’s twin-bill in Atlanta, the Nittany Lions’ overall season record drops to 14-18, with the Blue & White looking to return to their winning ways in non-conference play on Tuesday against Bucknell in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions resume Big Ten Conference play with a 2-5 league ledger, returning to league action this weekend in University Park against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights with a three-game set at Nittany Lion Softball Park. Oklahoma State improved to 21-9 overall this season and 4-1 in the all-time series with PSU, while Georgia Tech rose to 21-14 overall and 7-5 against the Blue & White following the 12th all-time meeting.

KEY INNINGS (VS. OKLAHOMA STATE)
B2 | With one out on the scoreboard and a runner on first following a walk and fielder’s choice to open the frame, Micaela Wark drew a walk to place runners on the right side of the infield. A Cowgirl proceeded to strike out looking, but with Megan Delgadillo occupying second base, Megan Bloodworth lifted a bloop single over the outstretched glove of the Nittany Lion shortstop to bring Delgadillo around to score. OKST 1, PSU 0
B3 | Back-to-back singles by Tia Warsop and Rosie Davis placed runners on the right side, but a strikeout put the first out on the scoreboard for PSU. Karli Godwin lifted a fly ball to right that saw Warsop advance to third, but a Nittany Lion error while trying to catch Davis in a rundown allowed the lead runner to come around and score. Delgadillo kept the inning alive with a single to left, and a single to right center by Wark drove Davis around to score while Delgadillo advanced to third base. A fielding error that would have ended the inning allowed Delgadillo to trot the final 60 feet for the unearned tally. OKST 4, PSU 0
T5 | After a Penn State flyout put the first out on the board, Brunson stepped into the batter’s box and crushed the first pitch of her at-bat high over the wall in right center to get the Nittany Lion scoring started on Saturday afternoon. A grounder put two away just before Ricks went to the plate and took a solid cut for a first-pitch foul ball. Ricks lifted the very next pitch over the wall in center field for the 50th Nittany Lion dinger of 2025. OKST 4, PSU 2
B5 | Godwin drew a leadoff walk on five pitches, and Sophie Page entered to run for her at first. Delgadillo entered the box and lifted a fly ball to left field that looked destined for the gap, but a herculean diving catch by Lieto in left field prevented the Cowgirl extra-base hit while marking the first out of the frame. Wark entered the batter’s box and delivered a double to left center, but an impressive 8-6-2 relay from the Blue & White prevented Page from completing her journey around the bases. Claire Timm was called on to pinch hit and delivered a triple down the right field line that allowed pinch runner Rachael Hathoot to come in for the score. OKST 5, PSU 2
B6 | Tallen Edwards drew a leadoff walk to open the inning, and Tia Warsop logged a bunt single to place runners on the right side. A grounder moved both runners 60 feet, and a hit by pitch juiced the bases moments later. Godwin laced a double to left field to plate two runs while leaving runners on second and third, and Delgadillo singled up the middle to plate one more. After Delgadillo stole second and Hathoot struck out swinging, Timm mustered a base hit that drove the two Cowgirl runners in to end the game via run-rule. OKST 10, PSU 2
KEY INNINGS (VS. GEORGIA TECH)
B2 | Addison Leschber led the second inning off with a single to right field and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Leadoff hitter Paige Vukadinovich stepped up and delivered a single to left center, advancing to second on the throw as a pair of Yellow Jackets scored with runners remaining on the left side of the infield. After a PSU pitching change, Alyssa Willer drove a two-RBI double to center, and Gracyn Tucker followed that up with a two-run homer over the fence in left center to make it a six-run game. After a liner put two away, Grace Connelly mustered a single and Leschber lifted a homer to right center to make it an eight-run game. GT 8, PSU 0
