Janecke to Represent the United States at 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship

The event will be held in České Budějovice, Czechia from April 9-20

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 8 Penn State women’s ice hockey’s Tessa Janecke will don the stars and stripes at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship for the third year in a row. Janecke and her U.S. Women's National Team counterparts took gold in 2023 and silver in 2024.

JANECKE’S TEAM USA ACCOLADES 

  • Janecke has played 38 games over her career with the U.S. Women's National Team, totaling 32 points on 16 goals and 16 assists. 
  • At the 2023 and 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship, the Orangeville, Illinois. Native recorded 10 points with four goals and six assists across 14 games. 
  • At the U18 IIHF Women's World Championship in 2022, she scored three goals and assisted on three more in just five games. 
  • Janecke dominated the 2024 Collegiate Series against Canada with an incredible four goals and three assists in just three games. Janecke notched three goals at the 2022 event. 
  • The junior forward has played in three Rivalry Series events (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25). She tallied three assists in as many games at this season’s competition.

JANECKE’S 2024-25 SEASON SO FAR 

  • Janecke became the Penn State ice hockey (men’s and women’s) all-time leader in points in a 4-0 shutout win over Lindenwood on Jan. 25. She currently has 152 points on 63 goals and 89 assists for her career. 
  • Janecke ranks in the top 10 nationally in points, points per game (1.44), goals, goals per game (0.67), power play goals (six) and short-handed goals (two). She is just outside the top 10 in assists and assists per game (.78), sitting in 14th place. 
  • She leads the AHA in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, shots (205), shots per game (5.69) and plus/minus (+36). Janecke is second in assists and assists per game. She is tied for second in the league in power play goals and tied for third in short-handed goals. 

Penn State hosts the AHA Championship against Mercyhurst on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. inside Pegula Ice Arena. The Nittany Lions are seeking their third consecutive AHA Championship.
