Women’s Gymnastics to Compete Against George Washington and Clemson in Tri-Meet

Nittany Lions continue their road slate in Washington D.C.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State women’s gymnastics is set to continue its road slate against non-conference opponents George Washington and Clemson in a tri-meet on Sunday in Washington D.C.

Penn State will compete against Clemson for the first time in program history and will wrap up with a dual meet against the Tigers in South Carolina, matching up against them twice in the final two weeks of the regular season. The Nittany Lions aim to get back on track following their outing at the Big 4 meet last Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT 

The Nittany Lions scored 195.475 team points and finished fourth in the third session of Big 4 competition to wrap up their Big Ten regular season slate. Penn State fell to No. 7 Michigan State (197.150), Iowa (196.125), and Washington (195.650) last Sunday in Iowa City.

Penn State fought hard throughout the entirety of the meet, even without the services of Kalea McElligott. Elizabeth Leary competed in her seventh all-around, compiling a total score of 39.100.

VAULT – No. 34 

In the last rotation of the night, Isabella Salcedo tied her career-high score of 9.875 on her first vault routine of the season as Penn State scored a 48.900. Maddie Johnston posted a 9.825 as Leary and Elina Vihrova earned 9.775s.

BARS – No. 27 

In the first rotation of the night, Penn State secured a team score of 48.975. Leary, in her first event of the night, fronted the group with a 9.85. A pair of 9.8s from Dani Latronica and Johnston contributed to the team’s overall score. 

BEAM – No. 23 

The Nittany Lions earned a 49.025 team score on their second rotation of the night, their highest team score of the meet. Ashley Maul earned a career-best score of 9.875 on beam, Latronica added a 9.825, and Salcedo recorded a 9.8 to round out Penn State’s top three scorers.

FLOOR – No. 43 

Penn State’s floor group earned a 48.575 score, led by Alyssa Kramer’s 9.875. Leary contributed a 9.775 and Allison Kaempfer tallied a 9.75.
